چکیده

The paper describes the development of a micro-parallel-SCARA robot adapted in size to MEMS products. The degree of miniaturization is optimized concerning a smaller structure but high accuracy in a workspace dimensioned to chip card size. The robot supports the mostly used four degrees of freedom with a base area of less than 150 x 150 mm2. It is the result of a cooperative project between the Institute of Machine Tools and Production Technology at the Technical University of Braunschweig and Micromotion GmbH. This company is an innovative manufacturer of miniaturized zero-backlash gears and actors, which are used as main drives of the robot.

Design of a Parallel Hybrid Micro-scara Robot for High Precision Assembly

The trend to miniaturization in the field of consumer and investment goods is leading to increasing interest in the field of precision assembly of small components. Until now most machines for precision assembly have been many orders of magnitude larger than the workpieces to be handled or the necessary workspace. The Institute of Machine Tools and Production Technology of the Technical Univers...

Strategies and Devices for a Modular Desktop Factory

The first part of the paper describes different concepts for micro production. The potential of miniaturised size adapted robots is pointed out based on their flexibility. Flexibility thereby is discussed in a detailed way that leads to two different ways of robot integration. The second part of the paper deals with the desktop factory concept. Beginning with a short state of the art for deskto...

Cable-Direct-Driven Robot (CDDR) with Passive SCARA Support: Theory and Simulation

This article presents a new planar translational cable-direct-driven robot 1 (CDDR) with actuation redundancy and supported against loading normal to the 2 motion plane with a passive planar two-degree-of-freedom SCARA-type (Selective 3 Compliance Assembly Robot Arm) serial manipulator. This allows the robot to 4 resist cable sag without being supported on the motion plane. The proposed robot 5...

On the dynamics of SCARA robot

Padhy, S.K., On the dynamics of SCARA robot, Robotics and Autonomous Systems, 10 (1992) 71-78. Assembly automation using robots has proven to be very successful. It has been shown that use of robots improves the accuracy of assembly, and saves assembly time and cost as well. SCARA (Selective Compliance Assembly Robot Arm) type robots have been widely used in industry for assembly operations in ...
